Treasurer’s Report

Treasurer Hobart gave the treasurer report of current deposits and receipts.

Motion by Trustee Mitchell supported by President Peiffer to deposit the funds from the recently matured CD at Independent Bank in to the Independent Bank village savings account.

Motion by President Peiffer supported by Trustee Mitchell to accept the Treasurer’s deposits and receipts reports as presented.

Clerk’s Report

Clerk Fuller gave the report of payables and payroll approval, revenue and expenditure reports.

Motion by President Peiffer supported by Trustee Mitchell to have Clerk Fuller prepare all annual reporting on audit off years for $300. Roll call vote: Trustee Ewalt – yes, Trustee Schneider – yes. Motion carried 4/0.

Motion by President Peiffer supported by Trustee Mitchell to accept the Clerk’s payables and payroll reports as amended and pay approved invoices.

President’s Report

Motion by President Peiffer supported by Trustee Mitchell to accept the Mill Pond Park rental agreement as drafted. Roll call vote: Trustee Ewalt – yes, Trustee Schneider – yes. Motion carried 4/0.

Motion by President Peiffer supported by Trustee Mitchell to move the village meetings to the Catholic Church Hall in Hubbardston, if the Church will allow, for August and September village meetings.

Motion by President Peiffer supported by Trustee Ewalt to extend the meeting past 8:00 pm.

President Peiffer stated that she will be applying for all eligible grants on behalf of the village. Any grant awards received will be presented to the Village Council for acceptance and for approval of any required matching funds.

Fire Chief Report

Motion by President Peiffer supported by Trustee Mitchell to allow Chief Lewis to purchase four pairs of gloves and a SCBA mask for a capped amount of $900.

DPW Report

President Peiffer reported that a 55‑gallon drum of oil was ordered from Parts Plus for $750.00, which is significantly more cost‑effective than the previously purchased 5‑gallon buckets at $150.00 each. Additional maintenance supplies will also be purchased, including all required filters for village equipment and extra commonly replaced parts, to ensure timely repairs and reduce downtime.

Old Business

Motion by President Peiffer supported by Trustee Schneider to hire Fahey, Schultz, Burzych & Rhodes PLC to be used as the village attorney. Roll call vote: Trustee Ewalt – yes, Trustee Mitchell – yes. Motion carried 4/0.

New Business

Motion by President Peiffer supported Trustee Schneider to purchase a sign for Volunteer Park, not to exceed $200. Roll call vote: Trustee Ewalt – yes, Trustee Mitchell – yes. Motion carried 4/0.

Motion by President Peiffer supported by Trustee Schneider to allow President Peiffer to organize a farmers’ market as a trial run. Roll call vote: Trustee Ewalt – yes, Trustee Schneider – yes. Motion carried 4/0.

Motion by President Peiffer supported by Trustee Schneider to remove the absent Trustee from the village payroll.
