Spring Clean Up Day 2026 — Saturday, May 16

Spring Clean Up Day for Village of Hubbardston residents is Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Mill Pond Park parking lot. Curbside pickup volunteers will be available. Important restrictions apply — review the prohibited and conditionally-accepted waste lists before bringing items.

Spring Clean Up Day is a service for Village of Hubbardston residents to dispose of household waste. Please review both lists below carefully — some materials cannot be accepted under any condition, and others have restrictions that must be met before drop-off.

Prohibited Waste (Not Accepted)

These items cannot be accepted under any condition:

  • Hazardous or toxic waste (ignitable, corrosive, reactive, toxic)
  • Pesticides, herbicides, solvents, and their containers
  • Hazardous waste containers or labels
  • Explosives, ammunition, firearms
  • Radioactive waste or labeled containers (including TENORM)
  • PCBs or PCB-containing materials (ballasts, transformers)
  • PFAS-contaminated materials (e.g., firefighting foam)
  • Lead acid batteries
  • Lithium-ion batteries
  • Liquid waste of any kind
  • Sewage or septic waste
  • Oil-based paint
  • Used oil
  • Hot ashes, cigarette waste, hot coals
  • Materials harmful to landfill liners or leachate systems

Conditionally Accepted (Restrictions Apply)

These items are accepted only if the listed conditions are met:

  • Appliances with Freon: must have certified Freon removal.
  • Asbestos: proper packaging, handling, and manifest required.
  • Empty drums: must be clean and crushed.
  • Medical waste: must be decontaminated or properly packaged.
  • Whole tires: must be cut in half.
  • Diseased or invasive yard waste.
  • Empty gas cylinders: must be empty with the valve removed.
  • Contaminated soil: testing and landfill pre-approval required.
  • Animal carcasses: non-diseased only; no large quantities.
  • Electronic waste: households and exempt generators only.
  • Fluorescent tubes and non-PCB ballasts: households only.
  • Latex or acrylic paint: must be dried or solid.
  • Incinerator ash: testing and pre-approval required.
  • Oil filters: must be drained for 24 hours.
  • Industrial or manufacturing byproducts: testing and pre-approval required.

Curbside Pickup Assistance

If you cannot get your waste to Mill Pond Park, volunteers will be collecting items that have been placed at the curbside. Please have items at the curb before 8:00 AM on Saturday, May 16.
